X-Men ’97 Archangel: A $40 Repaint for the Completionists preorders live

 

Hasbro just put the Marvel Legends X-Men ’97 Archangel up for pre-order, and let’s be real—if you already own the X-Force version or the older Deluxe release, you’re basically paying for a fresh coat of pink paint and a "new" box.

The Breakdown: This is your standard 6-inch scale figure, now "animation-accurate" to the X-Men ’97 show. Hasbro is bragging about 10 accessories, but let’s look at the fine print: you’re getting an alternate head (screaming, obviously), some hands, and a "blaster."

The Good, The Bad, and The Winged:

• The Wings: They’re the same articulated metal wings we’ve seen before on X-Force Archangel. They look sleek, but if you were hoping for a brand-new sculpt, keep dreaming.

• The Deco: It’s the classic pink and blue. It pops, sure, but it’s nothing we haven’t seen in the last decade of Legends.

• The Price: It’s hitting the $39.99 Deluxe price point. For a figure that’s largely reuse with a "Disney+" tax.

The GEN Verdict: If you missed the previous releases and your X-Men shelf has a wing-shaped hole in it, grab him. He looks good enough. But if you’re expecting "premium innovation," you’re looking at the wrong company. Pre-orders are live NOW (as of 1 PM ET today), and he’s expected to ship June 2026.
